May 4-8

Monday
We will finish taking notes on the handout called "Glaciers", and then start watching a video called "Snowball Earth". If you miss this class go to this website and read pages 1 and 2. Attention honors students: MESPOWs for this week are 68, 91, 101, 112.

Tuesday
We will finish the video and then take notes on a handout called "Ice Ages". If you miss this class go to this website and read pages 1 and 2. Honors students who were gone should read the text section titled "Causes of Glaciation" (pages 174-177).

Wednesday
Students will take notes as Benson explains various ways that the last ice age impacted Montana.If you miss this class be sure to open the "Wednesday" links below and carefully read the web pages.

Thursday
We will watch a short video and then prepare for the test. If you were gone, scroll down and watch the "video of the week". A review sheet will be provided or you can print one out here.

Friday
Test over groundwater, surface water, glaciers, ice ages

Tuesday
Students will do a lab activity called "Testing Water for Hardness". If you were gone, get a copy of the handout from Benson, and then watch this presentation. Do as instructed on the presentation.

Wednesday
Students will take notes as Benson explains various aspects of glaciers. If you were gone read pages 188-198 (honors 158-171).

Thursday

Monday and Tuesday
Students will continue working on the Island Watershed Activity. It is due at the start of class on Friday. Honors students - There is no MESPOW this week. Instead, you will do an assignment called The Carbon Cycle. It is due SOC Friday.

Wednesday
Students will do a map activity called "Helena Area Watersheds". If you were gone, do this make-up assignment. Happy Earth Day!

Thursday
Students will take notes as Benson explains various Helena area water resources. If you miss this class, read this webpage, get the notes handout, watch this PowerPoint Presentation, and watch the video of the week below.

Friday
We will watch a video called "The Last Extinction" - If you were gone, watch it online HERE and answer the questions on this worksheet.

Monday
We will go over a recent WS, watch a short video, and then complete the map activity that we started on Friday. Honors students - MESPOWs for this week are . . . Read 3, 4, 36, 45, 58, 68, 69, and do 120.

Tuesday
Periods 1, 3, and 4 will do a map activity called "Montana Rivers". Periods 5 and 7 will go over the "Map Activity: USA Drainage Basins" and then learn about the plight of the Pacific Salmon.

Wednesday
Benson will be gone today - lesson plan TBA (to be announced later this week).

Thursday
Period 1, 3, and 4 students will start the Island Watershed Activity. Friday
Students will continue the "Island Watershed Activity".

No school - Last day of Spring Break

Tuesday
Students will learn some basic terminology associated with the water cycle (Handout), and then complete the "Porosity Lab" that we set up before the break. If you miss this day, read pages 158-161, read through the "Water Cycle Tutorial" (see link below), and watch this PowerPoint (goes with handout).

Wednesday
Students in periods 1, 3, and 4 will be listening to a presentation about the Montana Conservation Corp. Period 5 and 7 students will take notes on a handout (Groundwater Issues). If you were gone, read pages 140-150 (honors) and watch this video.

Thursday
Period 1, 3, and 4 students will take notes on a handout (Groundwater Issues). If you were gone, read pages 171-180. Period 5 and 7 students will do a map activity called "USA Drainage Basins".

Friday
Period 1, 3 and 4 students will do a map activity called "USA Drainage Basins". Period 5 and 7 students will do a map activity called "Montana Rivers". If you were gone for the Montana Rivers Activity, do this this makeup assignment.
