October 30 - November 3

Attention honors students: The MESPOWs for this week are #1 and #29.

Monday
Students will take notes as Benson explains various ways that the last ice age impacted Montana.If you miss this class, go to this site and read each of the following: 12, 24, and 33. Site does not open on mobile devices. Also, watch this video.

Tuesday
We will review for the test. A review sheet will be provided.Attention honors students: The topics of the 3 essay questions will be 1- The primary source of water for the city of Helena, 2-How having lots of land at high elevation contributes to the onset of ice ages (see notes handout), 3-The Berkeley Pit . . . Here are some resources that may help

Wednesday
Students will take a test.

IMPORTANT - Period 1-4-7 students have one week to come in (before school, at lunch, or after school) to make corrections on their tests. They can use their notes and handouts. Honors students can make corrections if their score was less than 70%, and can only raise their score to 70%.

Thursday
We will discuss several factors that influence the flight of a baseball or football. If you were gone, carefully read this web page and pages 479-480 in your text (honors pages 466-467). Students will do a graph activity. It is due at the start of class tomorrow.

Friday
Students will do a lab called "Burning Up the Atmosphere". If you were gone, periods 1-4-7 should do questions 1-10 on page 499 . . . periods 3-6 should read 472-477 and questions do questions 1-2 on page 478.

October 23-27

The optional assignment for October (to replace your lowest non-test score) is 1-21 page 183 (Honors - Do the following questions from your text: p. 120 #2, p. 122 #1, p. 125 #3, p. 127 #1-3, p. 129 #3, p 130 #1, p. 132 #1, p. 134 #1-3).

Monday
Students will take notes as Benson explains various aspects of glaciers. If you were gone read pages 188-198 (honors 158-171).

Tuesday
We go over the Helena Area Watershed packet and then finish the notes from yesterday (glaciers, etc).

Wednesday
We will watch a video: Snowball Earth - If you were gone, watch it here (43 minutes).

Thursday
We will take notes on a handout called "Ice Ages". Honors students who were gone should read the text section titled "Causes of Glaciation" (pages 174-177).

Friday
Students will take notes as Benson explains various ways that the last ice age impacted Montana.If you miss this class, go to this site and read each of the following: 12, 24, and 33.

Tuesday
Students will learn about the water cycle and then . . . Periods 1-4-7 will finish their Helena Area Watersheds Map Activity. Periods 3-6 will do a worksheet related to the water cycle. If you were gone, read through this Water Cycle Tutorial, get the handout, and watch this PowerPoint (goes with handout).

Wednesday
Students will watch a video called "The Last Extinction". If you were gone, get a copy of the video worksheet and fill in the answers as you watch it online here.

Students will continue working on the Island Watershed Activity. It is due at the start of class on Friday. Honors students - MESPOWs are due on Friday: #13 and #68 (read them both, pick one to do with the WS).

Thursday
Counselors from the guidance dept. will be working with students in class today all period.

Friday
Students will do a map activity called "Helena Area Watersheds". If you were gone, get the make-up assignment from Benson.

October 2-8

Attention Honors Students: The MESPOWs for this week are 58-62-69-120.

Monday
Benson has to attend meetings, so he will have a sub. Students will watch a video. There will be a short quiz on the video tomorrow. If you were gone, watch the first part (about 25 minutes) of the this video (episode #6), write a summary of the video, and hand it in.

Tuesday
Students will learn about several Montana water issues and start a "Montana Rivers Map Activity".

Wednesday
Benson's classes will be taking an "ACT Aspire" test in the library today.

Thursday
After we watch a couple short videos, students will continue working on the Montana Rivers Map Activity. If you were gone, watch this video and then watch this one too.


Friday
Students will begin the "Island Watershed Project" - a 3-4 day project that will be continued next week.
